MagicTrafficBot promises to “explode” your website traffic by targeting counters. The program crawls through websites using your referral link. Then when the webmaster looks at his referral statistics, he sees your site and goes to it. That may be just 1 visitors, but do that for thousands of websites, and you got yourself some nice traffic. Plus, don’t forget those websites that publish their referrals. Now you got yourself some outside traffic and even some backlinks.

Their sales pitch makes some nice points and makes you consider purchasing for $29.99. After all, you get resale rights and can probably make that back from selling it on forums, right? Wrong. This program is very simple to make. Simple enough to actually be given out for free. Shameless Traffic gives out its own version for free called Referer Crawl. The name may not be as impressive as Magic Traffic Bot and may even have a typo, but the software is the same.

I downloaded the program and decided to give it a try. I was happy to see that I can actually open up several of these programs so I was able to target different websites. Websites are targeted by keyword and it starts crawling via a simple Google search. I first tried this for our advertising via forums service, InForum Advertising. I created a page to be displayed on the referrals and put its own counter on it.

I even had a clever message on it:
“You Have Been Brought Here…
Because someone from InForum Advertising Staff went to your website.
That means that we think your website or blog would be perfect for InForum Advertising.”

I thought I was set. Sit back and watch the sales come! Number of visitors after running 3 of these programs for 1 hour: 0.

I glanced at the websites that it was crawling through and figured why I had such bad results. Who from w3.org or google webmaster tools would look at their stats and see 1 visitor from me? I was feeling a little hopeless, but I decided to give this program another try. I targeted a much more specific niche, paid forum posting with http://www.paidpostingreviews.com. Paid posting services would see my referral, check out the site, and purchase a listing for their service. I ran the program for an hour and checked my stats the next day.

Yes, I received 2 visitors from this. Does this program work? Yes. Does it maybe need some tuning? Yes. But it’s free some try it for yourself. You may have more luck in it then me.
